I agree. Gentoo isn't for everybody (or most?). I started using linux 9 years ago at school. I was downloading Redhat 3 or 4 from a dialup. Configuring and compiling the kernel and packages was the norm.
But now as a professional, waiting for minutes or hours for something to compile before you can do actual work is just unacceptable. If you just want to get work done, stay away from Gentoo.
