Lack of search aside, what the previous poster was saying is that you wrongly asserted that F-Spot does not allow comments to be added to images. This is not the case, since comments have been supported since the earliest versions of the program.

As for his ending comments, I don't think that's an indication that F-Spot isn't doing a good job. It's simply an observation that by keeping user comments in the file itself instead of in a separate f-spot specific store, other apps can use it. Web-based photo galleries, for example, which aren't F-Spot's role.
