I second (third) this! I, too, reviewed all the picture management programs I could find (including all of the ones mentioned) and KimDaBa (as it used to be called) turned out to be the best one for my needs (tagging and sorting a large collection). So make sure you include KPhotoAlbum in your evaluations of picture management suites.
In addition to that, I do use Picasa because of it's "I'm feeling lucky" image enhancement feature. I export the enhanced images and manage them with KimDaBa/KPhotoAlbum.
