If you are referring to LDAP, it IS NOT easier, it does not have better management tools! It is very complex and although you might be able to setup a simple network, it is overkill in the amount of work it takes. As soon as I find those great management tools that allow you to set it up without days of work, I will be glad to use it. I am actually trying and have become very frustrated at it (which I think is a very common emotion with LDAP).
