What is this virtualization good for?
I don't run server, mainframe or anything, just my desktop computer. Is it good for anything?
Even if you are not running in a server or data-center environment, it can be a great tool to learn new techniques, practice installations and configurations, or generally try new things without having to buy a new computer or partition the existing machine.
That said, virtualization is probably not for everyone. If all that's needed is a word processor or browser, then virtualization might be overkill. Of course, the ability to partition off say a web browser from the rest of the computer has numerous applications from the perspective of virus and malware prevention...
