In response to #2, follow the links and look at the COPYING file in the Tamsa Subversion repository. Three or so clicks, less than a minute. It's GPL. I'm too lazy to look up all their other utilities, but if the most important one is GPL, it's a safe bet that all the others are too (and if you're still concerned, they're not exactly hiding it).
