Hi Joe. .
Was a little surprised to find this article on newsforge (kinda, it was linked there).
Anyway, yeah, no need to have a fancy rig controller. if you work me on the bands, you'll quickly chuckle over my interface: rubber band strapping my mic to cheep headset and a patch cord from HF to soundcard input! I get great reports.
further tip, don't use DSP if your rig has it--raw output sound to your computer will always work better! Also, don't forget to disable your audio processor. lastly, to all the newbies, bird-dog your ALC, if it twitches, you are driving the gain too hard. I've set my mixer and notices that amplitude can vary from low (approx 500Hz) to high (2+KHz).. Just have to pay attention to that ALC meter and touch up the gain if needed.
I use a kenwood ts570dg and the little bugger is wonderful on mfsk16 and psk31 between 5 to 25 watts into a simple balanced fed dipole.
Finally, i really hope the next stable release of gmfsk has all these neato tweaks! I really want the cw copy feature as standard issue soon. .
