I am also Swedish... Or actually Finnish (2nd generation Finns in Sweden...) And I also love both Swedish and Finnish.
If You try to loose Your mother tongue then You loose Your identity, I strongly belive. So cherish Your native language, but learn e few more! Me for exampel; I speak fluently Swedish, Finnish, and English. I understand German. And I am learning Japanese.
About World languages; do not forget that before WWII the (technial) world language was German, and Frensch for the Diplomats and Governments.
In the future the world language may very well be; Chinese! :-) So get on learning it! You will have a jumpstart in the new and future world economy led by the Chinese. :-)
