linux still lacking

k3b is excellent, no doubt about that. dvd::rip is so-so, if it actually works. However, Linux is still years behind windows when it comes to reauthoring tools. There are dozens of free tools for windows, but ZERO for linux.

Here we have yet another example why Linux will never make mainstream desktop usage. Unless you do nothing other than development, email or web, the general productivity applications are not available, free or commercial, or are hardly better than sourceforge placeholders stuck in perpetual alpha.

And before you rabid fanboys start crying, I have been windows free since RH5, and finally gave up with Linux+desktop last year, moving over to OS X where I can actually buy decent applications.

Server side is a different issue, Linux/Apache have already won, and my 67 year old mother uses Linux just fine.
