Hi, I have only seen the start of your result and it looks like deinterlacing would help a lot here. Although you shouldn't deinterlace for DVDs, it looks much better when the result for the Internet or other computer related demonstration is properly deinterlaced.
By the way, thank you for proving that Linux is a usable environment for multimedia as there were several articles on how useless Linux is for video editing.
