With Mr. Reiser about to stand trial for murder and Namesys up for sale, I'd say that ReiserFS was about to become orphaned and its development end. I suspect that this is part of the reason that openSuse 10.2 switched its default file system form ReiserFS to Ext3.
On any case, it is my opinion that the future of ReiserFS is unsure at best.
