Actually, the "unobtrusive mode" in my fork of wp-openid as nothing to do with remembering users. Rather, as it's name implies, it is intended to make the plugin less intrusive visually by not adding an additional input field for the OpenID. Instead, the 'website' field in the comment form serves double-duty... the plugin checks to see if it is a valid OpenID URL and if so then it proceeds with OpenID authentication. Otherwise, it just treats it as normal.
