I strongly disagree on the root login. You shouldn't allow remote root logins at all.


If you don't have physical access to the hardware completely barring root access can be a problem, having key-only root access in case of emergency, and only in case of emergency, is justified... Just don't use the key for everyday's use, set a passphrase on the key and keep it in a secured place...
