Greylisting's newer than several other other methods, for example, Bayesian filtering, keyword filtering, and other types of content-based filtering. The grey-TRAPping is apparently quite new, I hadn't heard of that before.
Yeah, SpamAssassin's been called "spamd" for a while, true. But that's what the OpenBSD team chose to call their spamd, so I guess that's why he called his article that.
