features ?

the most important thing is to promote Linux and opensource software in enterprise and general computing

for that, we need a perfect looking, functionnal and bug-free desktop

it's a lot of more important than features. and I do think gnome is providing what linux need.

--
but about features, if you ask me, the official use of seahorse in gnome is a big feature for me (a professional one, I agree).

--
gnome 2.20 should bring official use of Tracker in the whole stack. it's not for faint of heart. it will bring many many new possibilities. if it's not 2.20, it will be 2.22 (time is short)

--
gdesklets is not "official" gnome platform/desktop yet.

--
kde 4 is so.. far.

--
gnome 3 ? whatever the nonsense, it's just a stupid number. there are no plan to create a radical new "gtk" and noone seriously thinks they need to break the ABI compatibility to create new gnome software and tools . so what ?
they can continue on the 2.x version for a long time.

--
kde 4 is using QT4 , the number here is fine, because QT4 is a big thing. it bring to QT many improvements and some incompatibilities to qt3.
