It's encouraging that Sam recognizes the need for non-programmer involvement but it still seems to be at the level of delivering "eye candy". A decision needs to be made whether or not Debian (and any other distro for that matter) is going to target non-'geek' sectors in which case the "App Manager" role needs to morph into a 'Product Manager" role with all the marketing and PR baggage that gos with that.
