You're talking nonsense. The little graphic in the article does look as you say, but if you click on it to see it in its correct size, the Mono font looks fine.
The only quibble I have is that in the Serif font, the k looks squashed horizontally (when viewing the image at its correct size, look at the word 'quick', you'll see what I mean).
