They look pretty horrible on my system. (Debian etch, freetype with BCI, no AA)
I suppose they are meant to be used with AA/smoothing?
There's plenty of fonts that work ok with smoothing. Getting fonts that look good in small grades without the blurring is why the MSCore fonts are still around.
