A lot nicer than the MS core fonts...

In my opinion as an amateur graphic artist (at least one with a good knowledge of typesetting and font design), Arial was an awful font family. Not only was it a ripoff of Helvetica, it also removed some of the good things about Helvetica just for the sake of the argument, "no, of course we didn't take Linotype's design!"

Not only do these fonts look bad enough on Windows, but when you try to use anti-aliasing (which Windows users don't seem to like that much due to how fuzzy ClearType usually is unless you've got at least 120 dpi), they look worse! I'd much rather use the DejaVu font family as a core font than Microsoft's ripoffs.

Same goes for Verdana. I can't complain as much about Times New Roman or Courier New, but there are much better (and free in both ways) font families out there that suit its purpose. Now that Vista has some nicer core fonts included, can we please just wipe this Helvetica-ripoff and family off the face of the internet? Please, think of the children!
