Yes, it is true it does need an update. I have used gFTP almost exclusively to administer my site at freshubuntu.org and at tipshack.com, but lately I have tried the new IDE from Aptana with an FTP built right into the package. Now instead of having two programs open to do a job I only need one open. This is of course only if you are using ftp to administer a site.
