I don't think that it's misleading. If you look at the /proc/cpuinfo file, you'll get the identification information for your CPU's. For example, I have 5 computers in my house. 3 run Fedora 7 and 2 run Fedora 6. 4 of the 5 computers are Pentium III's, and 1 is a Pentium IV. 2 of the Pentium III's and my Pentium IV system run Fedora 7. Here is the identification information for one of my Pentium III's:
(processor : 1
vendor_id : GenuineIntel
cpu family : 6
model : 8
model name : Pentium III (Coppermine)
)
I think that it's clear that this system is an Intel Pentium III, and NOT an AMD. There is no confusion.
