A nice article overall, thanks Federico; but there are some minor glitches I'd like to clarify:
1) 0.9.8 dev version introduces 64bit ids and thus allows to search more than 4 billion documents (anyone out there really hitting this limit already?);
2) API calls are not covered in the doc indeed; but each call is documented in sphinxapi.php source.
