it's not "every 4 months", it's "as needed". AFAIK there's no formal schedule on that, and Desktop 4.0 DVD wasn't updated yet (though I do expect 4.0.1 probably during this autumn).
Still, I also prefer less churn with migrating any of my ALT-based desktop systems every N-small months, and any servers every year or so. Especially when they do just work and quite often don't need updates due to proactive code review and stringent security policies -- it's not that rare to read "no need to update, we've fixed that 3 years ago" or "not vulnerable in our build/configuration".
