For Desktop 4.0,
* selecting updates repo (probably off ftp.altlinux.org) is recommended to stay updated on sec fixes;
* selecting 4.0/Desktop repo will add what's already on DVD, so isn't immensely useful to those who have full image and not mini CD installer;
* following 4.0 branch might be helpful for those who wish to be on "the stable but still edge" as well as provide them with full set of what's available for 4.0.
At home, I personally use 4.0/branch from <a href=ftp://ftp.linux.kiev.ua/pub/Linux/ALT/4.0/branch/>ftp.linux.kiev.ua</a>.
