I was copying from an external USB drive to an external USB drive. It just stopped responding. It is a plain intel-based laptop. I think it is i810 in the Dell 700m.
“The following step is to save ….Are you sure you want to continue? (y/N_)”.
At that point the system will not respond to any keystrokes.
