X/OS is an undistinguished Red Hat clone

About the only reason I can think to use a RHEL clone is if you want RHEL but don't need or wish to pay for their (excellent) support. So you want a free community based version. CentOS pretty much has this covered and the community appears to have pretty much united behind CentOS in this respect.

X/OS appears to me to be more of a financial venture trying to sell support for a RHEL clone at a cheaper price point than RH. Whilst I see the value of support, I don't see the value in the product itself (X/OS).

Delaying the release of security updates is a MAJOR weakness, and citing Microsoft's lax policy on the issue in no way constitutes and acceptable defense. People requiring an Enterprise Level OS expect an Enterprise Level attitude towards security. There is already often a delay in applying security updates in the enterprise given the need for testing before deploying in mission critical situations - delaying the initial release of updates only serves to further compound such delays and isn't helpful. If the vendors of this Operating System wanted to add real value, they could have addressed this issue through their partnership with RH and maybe even attempted to *release updates at the same time* as RH thus beating the typical 24-48 hour delay seen with CentOS.
