Completely agree. I host a podcast (Will refrain from plugging for obvious reasons but I can say that I've passed the 200 show mark) and Audacity has been rock solid. Most people who already own a pc and have their own web site can get into podcasting rather cheaply. Grab yourself a headphone boom mic unit and away you go. Podcasting is the essence of niche shows so do something you love and people will find you. Do something just to get popular (get a high ranking on podcast alley et al) and people will smell a rat a mile away.
