Wow! I believed I did it right but following your advice it works: Went to the DEBS folder in a console ran the command, then cd'ed to the desktop-integration folder ran the command again and everything seems fine. Now I just need to get rid of Ubuntu's insistence on 'upgrading'. There should be some option to blacklist or something.
