Marshall, thanks for your response.
Since you are the only respondent out of three forums, I'll lay out the whole scenerio to you.
Iam committed to converting to Linux so I began by Installing Ubuntu 7.10 on my Toshiba P25 sattelite Laptop. I did the full install,(mistake), then realized that I would need to collect drivers for video, network, etc....
Since my laptop is my primary computer, I decided to use my recovery disk to reconfigure to windows xp untill I was better prepared to make the conversion,(next mistake).
After running the recovery operation, when I rebooted the computer I was presented with the following:

Error 17y
I have attempted to remove all existing partitions, reformat the HD several times without sucess.
Now when I attemop to boot, I am presented with:
GRUB_
I have an app that will completley zero out my HD, is this a viable option, or will it render my HD un-useable?
