I'd recommend Klibido (http://klibido.sourceforge.net/) over Pan. The reason being is that in the past, I'd have issues w/ Pan crashing with newsgroups that had a large number of headers (If I recall correctly, I didn't provide details to the developers...But is has been years). I don't know if this has been resolved however. At the time, I decided to try Klibido and I've have not looked back.
