Lots of these search things fall down on the same problem - they can't find stuff that is right there. I've used Tracker and Beagle and both have consistently failed to find files that I know exist. Looks like you had the same problem with Strigi. I prefer the "locate blah | xargs grep foo" idiom, I know what I'm getting then.
