Microsoft influencing partner NGOs to support OOXML in India

Just how much of an influence this will have remains to be seen. Even though corruption and bribery are not something you can outsource to India(we have a large surplus in this area), the IT sector being so crucial to the economy ought to make the government think twice before trying to influence the BIS in this regard. The FOSS movement is also pretty well represented here, and the government would also want to avoid any negative publicity at this point of time, especially since many prominent academics in India have already voiced their dissatisfaction with the MS 'standard'. But then, never underestimate a politician's greed, stupidity, and lack of morals.
PS- note how Handa refers to it as OXML. MS may hire substandard programmers and their software may be second rate, but they do have the best PR and marketing spin doctors in the business and their double speak is second to none.
