Or maybe the MacBook Air was the most desired piece of hardware which was part of the prize? Not mention it was after they changed the rules to allow browser access to pre-crafted malicious websites and there doesn't seem to be any reports on if the second person of the days attempt was successful or the third, the fourth, the fifth... or any other platform was targeted or they just closed it down once the glamour of cracking another Apple product was achieved which was probably the purpose of the dog n pony show they had.
