Well one main reason is that many people buy these machines, pre-loaded with Linux only to format them and install a pirated copy of Windows. Don't laugh, it's true. While there are many of us true blue, dyed in the wool Linux fans who relish such machines, many in the populace view them simply as cheap PC's without a Windows tax.
