Use what best fits your needs...
For the desktop user, Ubuntu 8.04 seems to be the better choice 'right now'. However, Fedora is also a viable solution from what I've tried out, anyway.
Ubuntu 8.04 x86_64 seems quite nice with automating the flash plug in by installing the needed x86 libraries without the headache of searching for the right libs yourself.. Transmission, I think, is a really good idea. There are so many nice new features in the new Ubuntu. One thing it lacks is the NVidia drivers for the new 9600 GT (and 9800) cards through the restricted drivers. It's not exactly hard to install them anyway, but a burden to the average desktop user. Though, this might change tomorrow when the LTS is released.
Wireless seems to have been improved greatly in this release also.
