Ask Linux.com: Startup commands, cloning, and anti-virus software

Clonezilla rocks for partition and disk cloning. For me Linux "dd" would take over 4 hours where Clonezilla is done in ~10 minutes (writing a dual boot image to a 60GB HDD, a total of about 6GB real data). How can this be? "dd" blindly copies every single (even empty) block whereas Clonezilla, when it can, only handles the blocks containing needed information. I've completed dozens on copies with no errors.
