It confirms what I've always believed - Oracle are embracing Open Source for the same reasons SUN are - because they have no choice - this does not mean they like it or want to use it - they have to - like swallowing dead rats when your starving. Thus we see a Marketing exec basically telling us that Linux sucks, and windows is a rock solid proven desktop - while sitting in a Linux conference of all places - why because she and Oracle have no choice but to try to ride out the wave.
With respect to MYSQL and PostgreSQL - I think oracle has much to fear from these technologies - Im sure over the next 5 or so years we will see the same cannibalisation of the proprietary Database market by these open alternatives that we've seen with the Closed Unix OS market by Linux.
