As you wrote above, maybe you didn't do a very good job of framing your response on the desktop question, but that doesn't mean people need to be rude. People should be able to "frame" your response for themselves. Personally, I would only have expected you to have a (full-time) Linux desktop if that's what Oracle supported for their marketing department. I do think that spending a little time on a Linux desktop would help you better understand a few of your customers. Probably only be a small percentage of them, but they may be a very vocal percentage.
