You can install from from the Free DVD/CD also.
urpmi.addmedia "free-dvd-main" /media/cdrom/i586/media/main
urpmi task-kde
The above steps should help. I downloaded the gnome one cd when mandriva was released and got the Free DVD about two weeks later with my linux magazine.
Nice review with a fair coverage. And good to see that you don't go by the myths surrounding mandriva (that it is not free).
