One real utility of e-texts is the possibility of carrying them in your pocket, on your pda or smartphone. For that purpose, the free MobiPocket Reader works fine -- the Gutenberg texts have to be downloaded to desktop, converted to Mobi format using MobiPocket Reader, and then loaded -- in my case onto my Blackberry. I have Proust on my Pearl!
