I use one of the dedicated ebook readers. In my case, the eBookwise's 1150. Right now it is a little klunky for me to get a PG books onto it. The previous step of searching, DL apply then uploading to the ebookwise library which automatically syncs with my reader. There is a windows only program that will sync from the computer directly to the ereader but it would be so much nicer to intergrate the two. Perhaps Kindle, sony's or some other eReader will figure this out that here is a huge library to take advantage of. Of course a couple of these devices are more concerned with selling you their ebooks vs making it easier to dl free content. So for now, I have to do the multiple step. If you have a chance, check out Baen online library. Recent scifi and fantasy, free, no drm, multiple formats Some of them can be found at http://www.baen.com/library/defaultTitles.htm
