There is a project in the Maemo community to bridge the existing GTK libraries with the QT libraries so programs based on each can interact with the other on the N series devices. Having full support for QT programs through a GTK UI plus the GPS and other improvements in the next tablet OS release is very interesting. With the support they've shown the gnokii project, I can see them supporting sync across there other platforms too.
They are a company but they seem to be one that get's it and seeks a balance between closed and FOSS code and profit margins. There was a recent bit of drama in the Maemo community that braught a lot of what they contribute to FOSS into the light.
Hold the phone.. if Symbian source is released.. how long before some mad hacker get's it to install on a desktop? I'll get a VM ready and waiting for it if there's a chance.
