Nokia buys Symbian, will open Symbian OS

Actually Symbian has more *mobile* applications than Linux. Linux has a bunch of applications for the desktop that are not very useful when they are ported directly to the mobile space. Obviously, there is a lot of development that is closing the gap but Symbian has, as others have stated, 10 years of solid mobile development experience. I'm quite excited that Nokia is buying up all these companies but I'm unsure of their fate. The hardest part is going to be coordinating the TrollTech, Symbian, and Linux developments without destroying the projects.
