The ssh issue might simply be because of an automatic update due to the debian ssl problem, the user should check his ~/.ssh dir on the client, to make sure he's got a keypair, and if he does to run ssh-vulnkey to make sure they aren't vulnerable, might be best to delete them and use ssh-keygen to create new ones; when that's done, just run ssh-copy-id address_of_server, and it should automatically be put into the ~/.ssh/authorized_keys file on the host computer.
