I think he meant that it's opensource so you could see if they were stealing someone else's code. It would be difficult to steal "free" software, gpl it and them patent it when anyone can see the code. I don't believe they have any patents on clamav (except perhaps what they bought from IBM) and also don't believe they sell any proprietary software, except for minor stuff on their hardware. Perhaps you meant that they might be stealing free software and combining it with opensource software on their proprietary hardware? I doubt they're using any shareware and bsd licenses are so permissive that it wouldn't be stealing. Maybe it's MS software they're taking? Drivers for their own hardware? Linux?
