Yes I agree, I too would like to see the rest of the world have freedom from US! or rather US from the rest of the world!!!! without the markets and affluence that is found in the US a lot of the worlds economies would dry up, especially China. I am in firm favor of closing our borders to the rest of the world when it comes to unfair trade balances and our whores of big business exporting the many jobs that once were here and now are scattered over the planet. If you think that this is a return to isolationism you guessed correctly. Oh and for the rest of the posters and my fellow Americans who wrongly think that we are a Republic based upon democratic ideals, Mom's apple pie etc etc; that has long since been in name only, unfortunately our nations gov't, and national religion (I bet you thought we had no national religion), education system, morality or lack there of and on and on is not what we have deluded ourselves into believing that it is. Unfortunately it is rather unrestrained capitalism and the worship of the almighty dollar at the expense of everyone and anything that gets in its way! This evil of unrestrained unchecked capitalism is spreading around the world like the tentacles of an octopus, for example how many different places now have what I term "US pollution" in the form of a new Wall Mart, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Mac McDonald's or Starbucks. We are all loosing our identities, the unique things that make us who we are whether we are from the USA, Europe, Asia, Africa the Pacific Islands, Australia and the rest of the world, we are all becoming drunk on the evils of unrestrained capitalism at the expense of the guy or gal next to us just as long as we make more money, regardless of what currency that may be. If the people in the US and the rest of the world really think that who we vote for here in the US is really an exercise in free will are all deluded, our decisions and even the political candidates who we are given to choose from are all controlled by the big money people. If the truth were really known we probably haven't had any real unbiased leadership in the US that wasn't influenced and controlled by some corporate lobbyist. We would have to go back to the 1800's or at least before the middle of the 20th century to find any politician who really wanted to do what was best for the people, now it is only what is best for him or her and screw the rest of the country and the world. Just in case that you may think I am not a patriot and someone who does not love his county nothing could be further from the truth. In spite of how screwed up we are most of the time I would not trade my citizenship for any other place, I just think that it is time for a new 1776. I am convinced that we could all go up to Washington and show the door to all the currently serving politicians, including the non politicians like the Supreme Court Justices and go out on the streets of America and we could pick people at random to be our new representatives and they would probably do a better job that the ones we have now.
If the US were such an open society, based upon freedom etc. with us the little people, the voters thinking that we have some measure of control over the important political decisions that affect our domestic and especially our foreign policy's we are really in a fantasy land. If this were true then why does our president participate in the secret hidden from world scrutiny meetings of the G8 summits. The reason is that it is all about the money people! They all get together to plan the big grand strategies that will ultimately control the economies of the world at the expense of each of our personal identities and our national identities. I fear that one day soon (if it hasn't already happened) we are all going to wake up the the hard reality that our lives are being dictated by a handful of large global corporations.
Do I have any constructive ideas as how to stop or prevent this from happening? Unfortunately I do not as I am just one small person amongst the billions who inhabit the planet, the only thing I can think of would be for each of us to decide each day we wake up to be a little less greedy that day and to decide not to step on the neck of our neighbors just so that we can get ahead in this life.
Sincerely,
A deeply concerned American
