"Finding out a not-for-profit is a billion dollar business is similar to finding out the land you own you still owe yearly payments on with tax. Seems nothing is truly free anymore"
I think your commment is a little short-sighted. First off, if it's a not-for-profit but a billion dollar business, how is that BAD? What about Public Television, National Parks, and the like? Secondly, how is it land you own? the analogy is bad. You didn't pay for it, it's public domain (more or less, rather GPL). Now in what they are talking about, how do you conclude that it's like finding out you own payments and taxes? You will still not be paying for it.....
Now rather her position should be thought of as an advocate for a nature reserve... she is developing ties and relationships to try and advocate companies to look at this seriously and to contribute.... like expanding or supporting the reserve... This seems MUCH more like what is being described here. If the Yosemite National Park were to get corporate sponsorship to EXPAND how is that bad?
Before you talk up the "Corporate == evil" angle, look at all of the Green Corporations (carbon credit snake oil), PBS, and other corporate but left organizations. Pots and kettles calling black....
