Good article, especially given the obviously significant work that went into the benchmark and the presentation of the data. And good comments too. Thanks especially for the link to the Jeff Garzik page. Seems software RAID is the way to go for most applications ... especially when the I in RAID stands for Inexpensive.

On another subject, would linux.com staff consider adding a "Too abusive -- report for deletion" button next to the "Reply" button on comments? It is no doubt impractical for anyone to actually review and make such decisions, so a count of such button pushes (only if any) next to the comment would be enough. My guess is that a large majority of readers enjoy good articles followed by comments flowing into discussions, but find the enjoyment tends to evaporate on coming across abusive wording. This would help.
