Your dead wrong - the original poster has a point: Ever heard of bankrupcy, dude? Ever had a hardware vendor changing on-disk format within the same series of Raid cards (happend with adaptec AAR-2410SA series). The original poster does in fact say the best practices can minimize the hurdles but linux based software raid hasn't these issues.
