In addition to my post
fsck on large xfs file system require a lot memory. I read a post that an admin were not able to fix a large xfs file system because of running our of memory.
In contrast, fsck on jfs require fix amount of memory, the memory usage is not correlated to file system size. This is another reason I opt jfs on my large data parition.
